Sean "Diddy" Combs is using his money to buy a far more comfortable stay at FCI Fort Dix than most inmates get, according to an NBC News report based on accounts from four men who were housed in the same unit. The men spoke on condition of anonymity.
Combs, 56, is serving a 50-month sentence at the low-security federal prison in New Jersey. A jury convicted him in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
What the Inmates Describe
- Fellow prisoners who cook, clean, make his bed, wash his laundry and scrub the showers and toilets before he uses them. One reportedly gives him massages.
- Meals cooked on a makeshift heating element in water, including curry chicken, pizza and empanadas.
- Contraband cellphones he uses to browse Instagram and receive explicit photos from a former girlfriend.
- A modified tablet for movies. Two sources said he watched "Sean Combs: The Reckoning," the Netflix docuseries produced by his longtime rival 50 Cent.
- Weekend drinks from a stash of liquor that the sources say guards smuggled in.
The sources also said Combs has bought other inmates' prescription Remeron, an antidepressant that circulates on the prison black market. According to the report, the whole arrangement is paid for by people outside the prison, who deposit money into the commissary accounts of the inmates working for him. Other prisoners hold his phone and his large volume of fan mail.
Treatment Program, Then Solitary
Combs' lawyers had pushed for him to be sent to Fort Dix because of its drug treatment program, which can shorten a sentence. The sources said he enrolled on arrival but was removed after a fight with another inmate put him in solitary confinement in July. Once he was released from isolation, they said, his routine picked up where it left off.
A spokesperson for Combs told NBC that the coverage treats "ordinary prison life as news" and said he continues to serve his sentence while awaiting a decision on his appeal.
New Release Date
Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list Combs' release date as Jan. 21, 2028, according to Page Six and TMZ. His original projected release was in June 2028, and the date has moved several times since he was incarcerated.
Combs was first declared a billionaire in 2022. His fortune is now estimated at $300 million to $400 million.
